Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to Justin for taking on the role as 1st team manager of Chickerell United.
I have been involved at the club since I was 17 years old as a player, then managing youth development followed by Reserve Team Manager and then First Team Manager. I have enjoyed all roles and given my all in making this a successful club/ team.
Throughout my time at the club I have made many life time friends as player and manager. It is nice to see that these friends are all now part of the committee and as a group I am sure we can achieve our goals and return the Club to good health.
For the last few years I have stepped away from football, but now with the opportunity to become chairman of Chickerell United is an honour to return and I will give 100% as I have in my previous roles. Though I think this could possibly be the biggest challenge I have had at the club, I will give my all to help Chickerell united back on track.
Within this role I am keen to encourage new members of the community to be part of the club that I have grown up with. When I was playing we were a small village and most families new each other, and we would love to welcome and encourage new families to support and be part of our local team.
As most of you are aware our pitch (THE STALLS) has undergone some major works from Wessex Water, so at the moment we will be playing elsewhere. It is still to be confirmed, but we are hoping that by next year we will be back on our home pitch, with our own identity, playing back in our village.
Throughout the season we will be having events to raise money for the club and these will all be updated in the contact and on social media. Hopefully this is where we will meet old and new residents of the village, as the more people we can encourage to support our club and be part of it the quicker we will grow as a club.
